(Poelker) Introduction

My name is Dustin O’Keefe Poelker and I’m a senior English Literature student. I was born in Yakosuka, Japan to a Navy family, grew up near Charleston, SC and went to the SC Governor's School for the Arts in Greenville, SC, before making the move to New Orleans in 2009. I just got back from study abroad in Dublin and a few weeks of riding trains around Europe, so it’ll be nice to explore my own culture for a change, especially through such important American authors. In addition to reading, I enjoy playing and hearing live music, driving to the mountains or the beach, and looking at visual art. My future plans are to either play music professionally, or use my degree for something like publishing or graduate studies in literary criticism. Even if the class never actually meets, I’m excited to hear everyone’s different perspectives on what we read, and look forward to getting to know all of you that way. Cheers!

  1. The class meets virtually through the blogs and the comments, and you are welcome to stop by my office anytime. You must know some of the people in the class already. Anna McGowan was in Ireland as well, and there are lots of English majors in the class.
